1. Who we are
MedMatch ("MedMatch", "we", "us") is a mobile application that helps verified medical students and doctors find dating and study partners. MedMatch is operated by Jiten Labs. For any privacy question or request, contact admin@medmatch.fun.
2. MedMatch is for adults (18+)
MedMatch is strictly for people aged 18 and over. We require your date of birth at sign-up and block account creation for anyone under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will remove it. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
3. What we collect
We only collect what the app needs to work and to keep it safe.
Information you give us
- Account details — your email address, and (where you choose it) a password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google.
- Phone number — where phone verification is enabled, to confirm you're a real person and to support account safety.
- Profile information — your name, date of birth (used to calculate your age and confirm you're 18+), gender, the gender you're interested in, photos, college, year of study, specialty, interests, a short bio, and whether you're here for dating, study, or both.
- Your status — for example "Free", "Studying", or "On Duty", which you set yourself.
- Messages and content — the messages, icebreakers, and reactions you send to your matches.
- Reports — if you report another user, the reason, any details you add, and the relevant conversation so it can be reviewed.
Information created as you use MedMatch
- Activity — your likes, passes, matches, and unmatch/block actions. We use these to build your deck and prevent showing you people you've already acted on.
- Approximate context — your college and city as you provide them. MedMatch does not require GPS location.
- Device & notification data — a notification token so we can send you push notifications, and basic technical data needed to deliver and secure the service.
- Subscription status — whether you have an active MedMatch Gold subscription. Payments are handled by Google Play; we do not receive or store your card details.
4. How we use your information
- To create and run your account and profile.
- To show you relevant people and let you match and chat.
- To deliver real-time messages, read receipts, and notifications.
- To verify you're 18 or older and a genuine user.
- To keep MedMatch safe — reviewing reports, enforcing blocks, and acting against abuse.
- To provide and manage MedMatch Gold.
- To fix problems, improve the app, and comply with our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
5. Who we share it with
We share data only with service providers that help us run MedMatch, and only as needed. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security commitments:
| Provider | What it handles | Their privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase & Google Cloud | Account sign-in, database (profiles, matches, messages), notifications, and app infrastructure | firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
| Cloudinary | Storage and delivery of profile photos | cloudinary.com/privacy |
| Google Play Billing | Processing MedMatch Gold subscription payments | policies.google.com/privacy |
Other users see the profile information you choose to show (name, age, photos, college, year, status, interests) and the messages you send them. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or MedMatch.
Because these providers operate globally, your data may be processed on servers outside your country. We choose providers that offer recognized data-protection safeguards.
6. Legal basis for processing
Where the law requires a legal basis (for example under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, or the EU GDPR), we rely on: your consent (which you give when you create an account and provide your information); the performance of our service to you; our legitimate interests in keeping MedMatch safe and functional; and legal obligations where they apply. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.
7. How long we keep your data
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your profile and personal data, except where we need to retain limited information for a short period to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce safety — for example, records relating to a report of abuse may be retained so we can act on it and prevent repeat behavior.
8. Your rights and choices
You can:
- Access and update your profile information at any time in the app.
- Request a copy of your data. Use the data-download option in Settings, or email admin@medmatch.fun.
- Block and report other users directly in the app.
- Manage notifications through your device settings.
- Delete your account and associated data (see below).
Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to correction, erasure, restriction, portability, and to lodge a complaint with your data-protection authority. To exercise any right, contact us at admin@medmatch.fun.
9. Deleting your account
You can delete your account from within the app (Settings → Account), or by emailing admin@medmatch.fun from your registered email address. Deleting your account removes your profile, photos, matches, and messages, subject to the limited retention described in section 7.
10. How we protect your data
We use reputable infrastructure (Google Firebase and Cloudinary), access controls, and security rules that restrict each user's data to that user and their matches. No method of transmission or storage is ever 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit who can access it. Access to user data for safety review is limited to what is necessary — for example, reviewing a conversation that has been reported.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as MedMatch evolves or as the law changes. When we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use MedMatch after an update means you accept the revised policy.
